Loss of internet during the controlled shut down of BT Servers

Services Affected: BT Servers at Baynard House – Sending and receiving emails, accessing the internet and such systems as Sims, e1 & espresso.

Services Not Affected: Locally hosted school systems that do not require internet access.

Dear Head Teacher

We previously made you aware that the BT servers at Baynard House would not be available on Monday 8th August 2011, between 18:00hrs and 20:00hrs. Due to the recent riots in the London area this work was unable to take place.

To enable the migration of the BT servers to Norwich, it is vital that BT are able to conduct a controlled test shutdown and restart of all server equipment before the move of equipment takes place on the evening of 26th August 2011.

When

The work is now due to take place on Wednesday 10th August 2011 between 15:00 & 17:00 to avoid BT staff working evenings and compromising their safety in the current climate.

What you need to do

No action required, the system will be unavailable.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and that we have not been able to provide you with prior notice.
