E2BN Two day Conference - Technology for a New Curriculum

The last couple of years have seen huge changes to the National Curriculum - particularly with ICT being replaced by Computing. There have also been big developments in the types of technology that we use in school.

Keeping up to speed with both the changes to the Curriculum and all the new technological developments is demanding. So this year’s conference programme has been designed to help you do both!

We have two head teachers talking about the impact their schools’ use of technology has had on school improvement. There are workshops on computing, programming, e-safety, as well as workshops to help you use technology to engage and motivate your learners across the curriculum.

There will also be approximately 70 exhibitors at the event showing the latest products for you to use in the classroom. Make sure you visit all three of the exhibition areas so that you do not miss out.

Throughout the conference the E2BN staff will be on hand to answer any questions you have about E-Safety, broadband, filtering, networking or educational technology.

Thanks to our partnership with E2BN there are two free places available per school.

Changes to SMART Notebook Software Licencing

SMART have recently made a number of changes to their licencing policy for Notebook. As of April this year they have made the decision not to include updates free of charge as had been the case previously.

All schools with SMART products are eligible to download up to Notebook Version 11.4 - however please be aware this version isn’t compatible with the older 500 series boards.

** This new product is optional **

SMART Notebook 2014 is the latest version of the software. The software is included with the boards and it doesn’t run out; it will just stay at that version with no further updates. The software includes a number of added features such as:

  • SMART Response (VE)
  • 3D tools
  • NEW SMART Maths tool – Geogebra
  • Extreme Collaboration
  • Notebook Connect
  • Paint Brush Tool
  • Text pen

This new Notebook package was launched by SMART on 14th April 2014 and any school that purchased a SMART product after April 2013 gets a FREE 1 year licence from the date of purchase.

You need to register for this licence by visiting http://www.smarttech.com/Home+Page/Product+Registration

(Schools that purchased in May 2013 need to download this quickly as you are nearing the 12 month expiry point - once downloaded you have this version indefinitely – you only lose further updates and the SMART Response VE access)

This licence will only cover any new SMART Interactive hardware you have purchased since April 2013 for a 12 month period – all new SMART products include this 12 month licence. SMART are offering the option to purchase additional licences to cover other older or non-SMART products, as per prices below:

1 Year = £34 per board per year

3 Year = £25 per board per year

5 Year = £20 per board per year

If you are interested in purchasing this software, or would like further information, please contact ictcontractsteam@norfolk.gov.uk
