1. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Norfolk Cloud Portal and single sign on using Google NSIX accounts

Due to associated costs and low usage of the service, from 11/01/2021, we will no longer be offering the single sign on service via our Cloud Portal: https://idp.nsix.org.uk/

If your school has Google NSIX accounts and you are accessing Google services such as Mail, Calendar, Drive, Classroom the only change you will see is that you will now be logging on directly with Google rather than via our ‘Norfolk Cloud Portal Logon’ form.

However, if you access any of the other applications included on the Cloud Portal (listed below) then you will no longer be able to access these using your NSIX account via the Cloud Portal.  You will need to contact the service providers to establish how you will log on to their services going forward:

  • Purple Mash from 2Simple
  • Education City
  • Espresso from Discovery Education
  • J2 Launch
  • Britannica School and Image Quest
  • Mathletics

From next year the Cloud Portal https://idp.nsix.org.uk/ will redirect to our website and you will be able to click on the top menu link ‘Google Logon’ to view links to the main Google applications.

For more information please contact the Service Desk on either 01603 475603 / 0845 303 3003 or ict@norfolk.gov.uk

2. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Powering Off Core Network Equipment Over Christmas Holiday Period

We would like to ask schools to refrain from turning off the power to the core networking equipment over the forthcoming Christmas holiday period. Core networking equipment includes routers, switches and servers, often in a wall or floor cabinet. These devices are monitored by ourselves and Updata and turning off the power results in false alarms. This could potentially result in your school incurring a charge for an engineer visit.

Services Affected:                           Schools Internet, email and any service accessed via the internet

Services Not Affected:                    All other school systems which do not access the internet

When:                                               18th December 2020 - 3rd January 2021

What You Need To Do:

If there is no alternative to powering off the communications cabinet and core equipment then please contact the Service Desk to advise us in advance
