Multi-Factor Authentication on Office 365

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a process of securing your account with more than just a password.  It is generally accepted now that platforms such as Office 365, where confidential information can be held, need more than a single authentication method, as there is an increasing risk that accounts can be compromised through ‘phishing’ scams or viruses.

MFA is required on all the generic O365 accounts (@norfolk.sch.uk) which we provide to schools. If you need any help in setting up MFA on a new account then guidance can be found on the following page: Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication on Office 365 guide.

In addition we also have the following help page which addresses some common issues and questions: Multi-Factor Authentication on Office 365 Help.

If you still have a problem after referring to these pages then please get in touch with our Service Desk.

Security and spam

How to send/receive encrypted emails

Junk email and Quarantine: Office 365 will filter out some emails which are flagged as junk/spam and put these in your Junk Email folder. However, emails which are seen as higher confidence spam or potentially dangerous emails such as phishing and malware are moved to Quarantine. Office 365 sends you daily emails reporting on items sent to you that have been quarantined, but you can check your Quarantine folder at any time by clicking the link below. You can review the emails which have been moved to Quarantine and choose to release them to your inbox if they are valid emails. Please note that any emails which are seen as high risk, such as high confidence phishing emails and malware, will not be available for you to review or release in your Quarantine folder.
